Andhra Pradesh is one of the important States in the Handloom Industry. There are about 2,00,310 handloom weavers in cooperative fold and 1,58,902 in outside cooperative fold. There are about 81,000 Powerlooms working in the State both in cooperative and outside cooperative fold. Several Centrally Sponsored Schemes as well as State Schemes are being implemented for the socio-economic development of Handloom Weavers in Andhra Pradesh including schemes with matching share of Central and State Governments.
The Department of Industries and Commerce is primarily responsible for the development of industries. The Department also plans and implements various scheme for industrial development in the State. Department provides Single desk portal to provide ease for the entrepreneur to establish new industry in Andhra Pradesh and obtain the required clearance from various departments through online. AP industries provide online platform to encourage entrepreneurs with various government schemes, incentives, ease of doing business.
AP Investment tracker is a tool to track the life cycle of industries spanning across various sectors, under purview of multiple government department in Andhra Pradesh. This tool will enable government department to regularly monitor number of projects, their potential investment and employment opportunities , and current status of their implementation. This will help department to interactive with the entrepreneur and generate leads, thus providing ease to doing business in Andhra Pradesh.
The Govt. of AP has formed 7 different Missions to achieve double digit growth for the state and to make AP among the most developed state in the country. Among these, the Knowledge and Skills Mission has been formed to provide trained and skilled manpower to all other Missions. To bring the faster execution State Government Andhra Pradesh has established The Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (DSDEI) has been further created to coordinate and synergize skilling efforts of all departments. Under which APSSDC is formed.
Andhra Pradesh has the 2nd longest coastline of 974 km in the eastern peninsular India, which accounts for 12% of the country’s total coastline with one major (Operational) and 14 non–major (5 Operational) ports, with six ports under development in the PPP mode. Ports offer tremendous potential for development and growth of a wide spectrum of maritime activities such as international shipping, coastal shipping, ship repairs, fishing, captive ports for specific industries, all weather ports, tourism and sports are 13 major ports and 185 non-major ports all along the coastline of the country.
The State of Andhra Pradesh is poised towards creating a benchmark in Information & Communication Technology (ICT) endowed with a high quality state-of-the-art physical & communication infrastructure of international standards, harnessed human resources, and proactive business friendly policies of the Government. The IT & C Department plays a crucial role in policy formulation in IT sector, conceptualizing and initiating various e-governance initiatives, stipulating standards for compliance, Promoting investments in IT sector, facilitating growth of IT Enabled Services through proactive measures and providing a strong communication backbone in the State.
The Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) has been conceived to accelerate the inclusive economic growth of Andhra Pradesh. The board acts as a catalyst to facilitate economic growth, investment climate, reforms and competitiveness in Andhra Pradesh. Its functions include: strategic investment planning and promotion; nodal point of contact for investments; mobilization of resources required for supplementing public and private investment; facilitating inter-departmental coordination; economic and policy research. The state is ranked No.1 in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business. Andhra Pradesh is also significantly reducing the cost of doing business through sustained investments, expenditures and outlays in infrastructure, logistics, skill development, and technology.
